The schedule on day two of Hobart International 2016 is so jam-packed of stars that it is almost impossible to pick a match of the day.

Action on centre court opens with the return of Jarmila Wolfe, our 2011 champion. Will the popular Australian player make a winning start on the fifth anniversary of her title run here? She meets Japanese qualifer Naomi Osaka, whose big-hitting has been impressive in her three qualifying wins so far this week.

The 2014 Australian Open finalist Dominika Cibulkova follows in her Hobart International debut. The former top 10 star and the tournament’s third seed faces a dangerous first round clash with rising British player Johanna Konta, one of the tour’s most in-form players at the end of last season.

Hobart has been abuzz since former world No.5 Eugenie Bouchard announced she was playing – and her first round showdown with American Bethanie Mattek-Sands, a finalist here in 2011, promises to a match that can’t be missed. Can the 21-year-old Wimbledon finalist make the perfect start to her Hobart International campaign, or will the more experienced Mattek-Sands upset the fan favourite?

Our defending champion Heather Watson begins her title defence in our evening session, meeting Brazilian Teliana Pereira. No woman has ever defended their Hobart International title in the tournament’s 23-year history. Can the world No.55 become the first to do so?

Also featured on the schedule is 2012 champion Mona Barthel, fourth seed and two-time Hobart International doubles champion Monica Niculescu, sixth seed Barbora Strycova and fifth seeded 2015 finalist Madison Brengle. Australian wildcard Kimberly Birrell will also make her WTA Tour main draw debut.
