South Australian Alicia Molik is making her WTA singles comeback at the Moorilla Hobart International after being awarded a wildcard into the main draw. The former world No.8 returned to professional tennis in September last year following a 12 month retirement. Before her retirement Molik played at all four Grand Slams, winning two Grand Slam doubles titles (Roland Garros, Australian Open); won the bronze medal for Australia at the Athens Olympics and represented Australia in the Fed Cup and Hopman Cup. While at the top of her game she claimed several top 10 scalps including, Maria Sharapova, Amelie Mauresmo, Anastasia Myskina and Venus Williams. She’s a former champion in Hobart, having won the Moorilla Hobart International title in 2003 making sure the nostalgia will be at a high. |
