 Anna Chakvetadze was the third seed at the Moorilla Hobart International in 2009 however young Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro knocked her out of the first round. She then came across a determined Jelena Dokic in the second round of the Australian Open and fell in three sets. Chakvetadze is a regular in Hobart, having won the singles title back in 2007, but in 2009 she fell out of the world’s top 50. To help with her confidence though, she recorded wins over Anabel Medina Garrigues, Jelena Jankovic, Virginie Razzano and Nadia Petrova in 2009 before withdrawing from Seoul with a right foot injury. She’ll be keen to get back to her best and work her way back to the top 50 in 2010. |
