Second seed Shahar Peer has defeated No.5 seed Carla Suarez Navarro in a marathon three set match.

In a match lasting just under three hours Peer fought back from a set and a break down to take the win 4-6 7-6(4) 7-5.

“It was a very tough match and very, very long. I’m happy I could win it because I was down a set and a break,” Peer said.

“She’s (Suarez Navarro) a very good player, she always fights and she’s there right until the last point, it was tough for me but lucky I won today.”

Peer will now meet unseeded Sara Errani in the semifinals tomorrow.
