Fourth seed Angelique Kerber is the first player through to the semifinals at the Moorilla Hobart International.
The German world No.31 has defeated Romanian Sorana Cirstea 6-0 3-6 7-5, despite needing assistance for a wrist injury during the quarterfinal.
The US Open semifinalist will play the winner of Thursday’s next match, between Australia’s Jarmila Gajdosova and another German, Mona Barthel.
Cirstea led 5-2 in the third set before crashing to lose five straight games.
