Italian second seed Camila Giorgi opens play on centre court on day three of the 2016 Hobart International.

The world No.35 faces rising Japanese player Nao Hibino, who is sitting at a career-high ranking of No.58 after reaching the quarterfinals in Auckland last week.

The pair, who both won their maiden WTA Tour titles last season, have not played before.

Next on court is rising Russian star Margarita Gasparyan against Swede Johanna Larsson, who are also playing against each other for the first time.

All attention will be on the third match of the day, when Canadian Eugenie Bouchard returns to the Domain Tennis Centre.

Bouchard gushed about the crowd support after her first round win yesterday. And after her impressive display of power tennis and her generous interaction with fans, signing autographs and taking selfies, there is no doubt she will have a lot of support again.

She meets eighth seed Alison Van Uytvanck from Belgium, a quarterfinalist at the French Open last year, in the third scheduled match. It is the first meeting between the pair.

“I have practiced with her a few times and actually a few times in the offseason at the IMG Academy (in Florida),” Bouchard said.

“It will be a good match. She has a great serve and can hit some powerful shots, but I’m going to focus on me as I always do, and go out there and enjoy myself.”

The day’s play concludes with a doubles quarterfinal featuring third seeded Ukrainian sisters Lyudmyla Kichenok and Nadiia Kichenok against the Australian pairing of Kimberly Birrell and Jarmila Wolfe.

Seventh seed Alize Cornet headlines the evening session on centre court, taking on Paraguayan lucky loser Veronica Cepede Royg.

Cornet, a former world No.11, admitted to knowing very little about her No.142 ranked opponent but will start a warm favourite.

It is followed by an all Japanese doubles clash between Kurumi Nara and Kotomi Takahata against Shuko Aoyama and Makoto Ninomiya.

Spanish top seeds Anabel Medina Garrigues and Arantxa Parra Santonja headline doubles action on Court Events Tasmania. They face the all-German combination of Annika Beck and Carina Witthoeft in the opening match of the day.

Our 2015 singles champion Heather Watson also features, teaming up with fellow Brit Johanna Konta to play Japanese duo Misaki Doi and Hibino. The final match on court sees Larsson in action again, teaming up with Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands as they aim to defend their doubles title.
